FxPro in Nigeria: open, fund and trade with eyes open

How to open and verify an FxPro account from Nigeria, the realistic ways to fund it when naira cards have limits, what Nigeria’s SEC says about offshore brokers, and the trading hours in WAT. Every fact links to its source.

Regulation

Nigeria’s SEC is tightening the rules on online forex

In September 2026 the Securities and Exchange Commission published draft Rules on Online Forex Trading and Contracts for Difference under the Investments and Securities Act 2025. As reported, they would cover offshore brokers that accept Nigerian clients, require introducing brokers to register, and ban bonuses, trading contests and referral incentives. They are not yet in force.

FxPro is not registered with the SEC. Read what that means before you open an account, and check how the rules develop.

Funding from Nigeria

Four ways Nigerians fund an FxPro account

Which ones you see depends on what FxPro offers for Nigeria in FxPro Direct and on your bank’s limits.

  • Local NGN options

FxPro says it offers local payment options by country and lists NGN as a wallet and account currency for certain jurisdictions.

No naira-to-dollar step on your side if NGN is offered to you.

Check FxPro Direct: availability depends on your country.

  • Naira debit card

Card deposits usually arrive in about 10 minutes, according to FxPro.

Quick, and the card is already in your name.

Your bank’s international spending limit, and card withdrawals are capped at what you deposited.

  • Bank wire from a domiciliary account

A USD transfer from a Nigerian domiciliary account to FxPro’s bank details shown in FxPro Direct.

    Suits larger amounts.

International wires can take 3 to 5 working days, and your bank may charge.

  • E-wallets

FxPro accepts e-wallets in many countries; the list for Nigeria is shown when you deposit.

    Usually fast.

FxPro may charge for e-wallet withdrawals if you have not traded.

Why a guide just for Nigerians

Most broker guides are written for nobody in particular. Opening and funding an account from Nigeria raises its own questions: whether a naira card will go through, whether you can hold naira at the broker, what the SEC thinks of offshore platforms, and what time London opens in Lagos. We cover one broker, FxPro, in that detail. We are an FxPro introducing broker, so if you open an account through our link, FxPro may pay us a commission; you pay no extra fee to us.

Three things that are different in Nigeria

  • Regulation. FxPro is regulated in the UK, Cyprus, the Bahamas and the Seychelles, not by Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC is working on rules that would cover offshore brokers that accept Nigerians. Our regulation guide explains both.
  • Funding. Naira cards work abroad again, but each bank sets its own international limit. FxPro lists NGN as a wallet and account currency for certain jurisdictions, which can remove the conversion step. See how to fund from Nigeria.
  • Time zone. Nigeria is on WAT (UTC+1) all year. The forex week opens on Sunday night and the busiest hours are in the afternoon here; our trading hours guide has the table.

FAQ

Questions Nigerians ask about FxPro

Is it legal to trade with FxPro from Nigeria?

FxPro accepts clients from many countries but is not registered with Nigeria’s SEC. The SEC says operating an unregistered online forex platform is an offence under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, and its September 2026 draft rules would bring offshore brokers that accept Nigerians into scope.

What this means for an individual trader is a legal question we cannot answer for you; check with a Nigerian lawyer if you are unsure.

Can I deposit and withdraw in naira?

FxPro lists NGN as a wallet and trading account currency for certain jurisdictions. If NGN is offered to you in FxPro Direct, you can fund without converting first; otherwise your bank or card converts naira to dollars at its own rate.

Why was my naira card declined?

Nigerian banks set their own limits on international card spending, and some block payments to brokers. Check your bank’s current limit, or use another method FxPro shows for Nigeria.

Which documents do I need to verify?

A valid international passport, National Identity Card or driver’s licence, and a proof of address issued in the last six months, such as a bank statement or an electricity bill. Upload them only in FxPro Direct or the FxPro app.

Does signing up through this site cost me more?

No. We are an FxPro introducing broker and FxPro may pay us a commission for accounts opened through our link. You pay no fee to us.

Do I pay tax on forex profits in Nigeria?

Since 1 January 2026 the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 taxes individuals’ chargeable gains at personal income tax rates, from 0% to 25%. How your trading is treated depends on your situation; see our tax guide and ask a tax adviser.
